Now I have to say, that I never thought in a million years I’d be defending anything Fox News had to say, but in this case I find them to be 100% in the right. Donald Trump continues to harangue and harass Megyn Kelly for stepping up and asking the tough questions Americans need to know at the republican debate she hosted.
In a statement from Fox News chief Roger Ailes he says, “Donald Trump’s surprise and unprovoked attack on Megyn Kelly during her show last night is as unacceptable as it is disturbing. Megyn Kelly represents the very best of American journalism and all of us at Fox News Channel reject the crude and irresponsible attempts to suggest otherwise,” Ailes statement reads. “I could not be more proud of Megyn for her professionalism and class in the face of all of Mr. Trump’s verbal assaults. Her questioning of Mr. Trump at the debate was tough but fair, and I fully support her as she continues to ask the probing and challenging questions that all presidential candidates may find difficult to answer,” Ailes said. “Donald Trump rarely apologizes, although in this case, he should. We have never been deterred by politicians or anyone else attacking us for doing our job, much less allowed ourselves to be bullied by anyone and we’re certainly not going to start now. All of our journalists will continue to report in the fair and balanced way that has made FOX News Channel the number one news network in the industry.”
With Kelly returning from vacation only to be met with more insults via Trump on twitter, this situation has gone from unfortunate, to beyond bad taste, and certainly NOT the schoolyard sort of behaviour one wants to hear from a presidential candidate. I find I must also agree with Brian Kilmeade in that Trump is out of control and that calling Kelly a “bimbo” is completely unwarranted.
I have never felt the need myself to be ‘politically correct’. I often speak my mind without forethought just like The Donald, but then I am not running for the presidential nomination and I have no plans to be in charge of the highest office in the land. A president needs to be able to stay calm, see both sides of an issue, not jump the gun when confronted, but rather get all the facts available before acting. The Donald thus far seems completely incapable of any of the aforementioned presidential traits. How can we trust a man not to start a war when a foreign official says something nasty if he can’t even control his temper with a single reporter?
