Albuquerque police shut down I-40 westbound after a 4-year old was shot in the head a little after 5PM on October 20, 2015.

“This is something that should not be happening in Albuquerque, New Mexico,” Chief Eden said in a news conference Tuesday evening. The chief went on during the news conference to say these types of actions were a “disrespect of human life”.

The chief is continuing to urge witnesses to come forward and tell the Albuquerque police what happened as the witnesses so far have given somewhat conflicting information.

“We are in desperate need of help to find this suspect.” The chief said.

It has been revealed that the girl was in the vehicle with her parents traveling down I-40 when the girl was shot in the head. Neither of the parents were injured.

At 6:20 PM, police chief revealed the 4-year old had passed away after being transported to a hospital.
