Around the Bases – April 15

All 30 MLB teams were in action on April 15. Three streaks were broken during the 15 games on this Jackie Robinson day where every player wore the pioneering players number of 42.

There are no longer any winless teams in the major leagues and San Francisco ended the streak of at least one home run in every game.

The Arizona Diamondbacks broke a late inning tie to score three runs on eight hits with one error to beat the San Diego Padres who had two runs on eight hits with one error. Daniel Hudson was the with Brad Ziegler earning his second save of the season; Fernando Rodney took the loss.

The Colorado Rockies scored six runs on 10 hits with one error to beat the Chicago Cubs who had only one run on four hits and four errors. Chad Bettis earned his second of the season with Kyle Hendricks taking the loss.

The Seattle Mariners scored seven runs on 12 hits to beat the New York Yankees who had only one run on six hits with one error. Nathan Karns was the winning pitcher with Luis Severino earning his second loss of the season.

The Washington Nationals scored nine runs on 16 hits with one error to soundly bet the Philadelphia Phillies who scored only one run on four hits with one error. Joss Ross earned his second win of the season with Jeremy Hickson taking the loss.

The Milwaukee Brewers scored eight runs on 12 hits with two errors to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates who had four runs on eight hits with one error. Jimmy Nelson earned his second win of the season with Jeff Locke taking the loss.

The Boston Red Sox scored five runs on nine hits to beat the Toronto Blue Jays who had three runs on three hits with one error. Rick Procello earned his second win of the season with Craig Kimbrel earning his third save of the season; R.A.Dickey took the loss.

The New York Mets scores six runs on 14 hits with two errors to just beat out the Cleveland Indians who had five runs on 14 hits with one error. Bartolo Colon was the winning pitcher with Jeruys Familia earning his third save of the season; Cody Anderson took the loss.

The Atlanta Braves earned their first win of the season by scoring six runs on eight hits with two errors to beat the Miami Marlins who had three runs on 12 hits. Alexi Ogando earned his first win of the season with Arodys Vizcaino earning his first save of the season; David Phelps earned his second loss of the season.

The Chicago White Sox needed only one run on six hits with one error to shutout the Tampa Bay Rays who had only two hits. Chris Sale earned his third win of the season with Alex Colome taking the loss.

The Baltimore Orioles won big with eleven runs on 13 hits with one error to beat the Texas Rangers who had five runs on six hits with one error. Vance Worley earned his first win of the season with Tom Wilhemsen taking the loss.

The Minnesota Twins scored five runs on eight hits with one error to squeak out their first win of the season over the Los Angeles Angels who had four runs on nine hits. Caey Fien earned his first win of the season with Kevin Jepsen earning his first save of the season; Fernando Salas took the loss.

The Houston Astros scored only one run on five hits to shutout the Detroit Tigers who had only five hits with one error. Dallas Keuchel earned his second win of the season with Luke Gregerson earning his third save of the season; Mike Pelfrey earned his second loss of the season.

The St. Louis Cardinals scored 14 runs on 13 hits to win big over the Cincinnati Reds who had three runs on seven hits with three errors. Carlos Martinez earned his second win of the season with Tim Melvile taking the loss.

The Kansas City Royals scored four runs on 12 hits to beat the Oakland A’s who had two runs on six hits with one error. Edinson Volquez earned his second win of the season; with Wade David earning his fifth save of the season; Rich Hill took the loss.

The Los Angeles Dodgers scored seven runs on nine hits with one error to beat the San Francisco Giants who had three runs on five hits with three errors. Clayton Kershaw earned his second win of the season with Madison Bumgarner taking the loss.
