Exclusive: Pop Rocks the Hard Rock

On most Free Music Fridays at the Niagara Falls Hard Rock Cafe, visitors are treated to some of the best musicians western New York has to offer. On April 29 one of Cleveland’s most poplar bands Pop Rocks made a trip east to Niagara Falls for their debut performance to share their rocked up pop songs.

Pop Rocks

But Pop Rocks takes on more than just the music from the Pop charts; the band performs music from Miley Cyrus and Brittney Spears to Journey and REO Speedwagon to Def Leppard and Lynyrd Skynyrd in a fast paced high energy performance.

Barely taking the time to catch their breath, Pop Rocks opened with “I Will Always Love You” and over the first set they kept the music coming including “You Really Got Me”, “Wanted Dead or Alive”, “Summer of ’69”, “We’re Alone Now”, “Jessie’s Girl”, “Stand By Me”, and “I’m Easy”. Saying they were going to have a little fun the band performed “Shake it Off” by Taylor Swift and continued with “Call Me Maybe”, “Small Things”, “You Give Love a Bad name”, “Walking on Sunshine”, “Rebel Yell”, “Like an Egyptian”, “Harder to Breathe”, “Take it on the Run”, “Tainted Love”, “Brown Eyed Girl”, “Cruel Summer”, “876-5309”, and “Chicken Fried.”

Much of the second set was given over to requests as Pop Rocks displayed an impressive song list and the ability to play a great many songs from memory. During the break the guitar player was even playing along to the music videos up on the screen.

The second set also included “Creep”, “Any Way You Want it”, Kelly Clarkson’s “ Since You’ve Been Gone”, “Purple Rain”, Loverboy’s “Working for the Weekend”, “Boys of Summer”, “Umbrella” by Rihanna, “Shut Up and Dance”, Taylor Swift’s “Never Ever Gong to Get Back Together”, and a hilarious rendition of Miley Cyrus’ “Rockin’ in the U.S.A.” that had the lead singer holding his nose as he sang the first part of the song.

The night of rocking fun ended with Hard Rock Cafe’s own Jody Valletta joining Pop Rocks for a rousing rendition of “Lick it Up” by KISS.

Throughout the night Pop Rocks showed why they are one of the most popular bands in Cleveland with their fast paced show that kept the music going but did not fail to offer up some fun and good cheer.
