It has been a very busy and rewarding year for British pop star Adele. Late last year she released her album “25” which went on to top the sales charts for 2015 in just six weeks.
Since then she has been touring and has earned several awards including Songwriter of the Year from the Ivor Novello Awards on May 19; for the second time.
The Ivor Novello (Ivors) Awards focus on the songwriters and composers.
It has been 40 years since The Ramones first took the stage in 1976 launching the punk rock era; and to celebrate that momentous occasion the band is releasing a new deluxe edition package of that 1976 album with three CD’s and a vinyl LP.
Ramones’ producer Craig Leon in overseeing the project.
Along with the original album, the set includes outtakes, demos, and single mixes. The third CD features live performances from The Roxy – both sets. The vinyl LP includes the mono mix of the album. The package also includes a hardcover book.
The package has been limited to just 19,760 numbered copies.
Tommy, Joey, and Johnny all died as a result of cancer; while Dee Dee died as a result of a heroin overdose.
The Canadian artist released his newest album “Views” on April 29. Since that release the album has been smashing streaming records.
So far Drake has had his album streamed 572 million times in the United States alone.
The album was streamed 246 million times in the first week alone – more than two times that of Beyonce’s “Lemonade” with 115 million streams. The album has continued to break records each week since its release.
The Discovery Channel is planning a six part series “Hello World”. The series features six different music artists – Dave Matthews, Joan Jett, Steven Tyler, Usher, Chiristina Aguilera, and Ellie Goulding – who will look at the world of nature that includes their own music.
Airing two episodes on one night for three weeks, the series is set for a July 9 debut.
Eminem is celebrating 16 years of his “The Marshall Mathers LP” by offering up some limited edition items; among them are a cassette tape of the album, a 3D cover, dog tags made from re-purposed wood, and even bricks taken from the rapper’s childhood home – the home was featured on the cover of the album.
There are only 700 of the bricks available and each comes with Eminem’s autograph and a certificate of authenticity. Eminem even provides a display case for fans to show off their brick and a commemorative plaque.
The limited edition items are available at Eminem’s official website.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the items will go to charity via his foundation – the Marshall Mathers Foundation – that works with at risk youth.
