Dallas sniper ID’d as an Army Veteran

Friday, the Dallas Police Department released the name of the alleged sniper who is accused of the shooting attack on police officers who were protecting civilians who were taking part in a peaceful demostration dealing with the two police shootings that took the lives of two black me by white officers in Louisiana and Minnesota The alleged assailant has been identified as Xavier Johnson, 25, of Mequite, Texas. The mass shooting took the lives of 5 police officers, injuring 12 others with 2 civilians being injured during the rampage. Chief David Brown said of the shooting, “Through our investigation of some of the suspects, it’s revealed to us that this was a well-planned, well thought out, evil tragedy by these suspects, and we won’t rest until we bring everyone to justice.”


According to Chief Brown, the police department is facing what happened Thursday night, “We’re hurting. Our profession is hurting. Dallas officers are hurting. We are heartbroken. There are no words to describe the atrocity that occurred to our city.” Chief Brown also stated that the police force is looking into 2 other suspects, male and a female as being involved in this terroristic act.

Brown also advised that the suspect, Johnson, died in the overnight incident.Brown also said that Johnson told hostage negotiators that he shot the officers because he wanted to “expressed anger for Black Lives Matter” and “wanted to kill [police] officers, Brown stated that negotiators spent hours negotiating with Johnson before he was killed by an explosive strapped to a police robot. According to military records, Johnson served as an Army reservist until April 2015 being deployed in Afghanistan from November 2013 to July 2014.

Facebook page also shows that he “liked” groups such as The New Black Panther Party and the African American Defense League. The African American Defense League posted after the shooting in Dallas that “The league posted on Facebook after Johnson’s massacre: “ATTACK EVERYTHING IN BLUE EXCEPT THE MAIL MAN, UNLESS HE IS CARRYING MORE THAN MAIL.”
