Continuing the night of music after the performance by members of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, Back to the Bars returns to the Niagara Falls Hard Rock Cafe and Free Music Fridays on June 24. This time around they return as a trio and call themselves Back to the Bar Stools. Minus the bass player, Mark, Mike, and Jeff gave an acoustic performance.
As the guys performed it was obvious that they were enjoying themselves with Mark’s smiles, the banter between band members, and in the performances themselves.
For this performance Jeff left his big drum set at home and replaced it with a square drum and an electric drum set. Mark played the acoustic guitar, and Mike brought his keyboard.
After opening the night with a song by Neil Young, the trio performed music by America, James Taylor, Seals and Crofts, the Commodores, Sir Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel, Orleans, Sir Elton John, Electric Light Orchestra, Sir Rod Stewart, and Led Zeppelin.
With beautiful but tight harmonies, the guys performed two sets of stripped down music including “Summer Breeze”, “Tin Man”, “Dance with Me”, Bennie and the Jest”, “Tonight’s the Night”, “I’m Easy”, Lullaby”, a medley of songs by the Electric Light Orchestra that included “My Blue World’, “Evil Woman”, “It’s a Living Thing”, and “Mr. Blue Sky”; and finishing out the night with “Thank You” by Led Zeppelin.
It was a night filled with music that ended all too soon. Leaving the crowd wanting more Back to the Bar Stools is one of those bands that you could listen to all night.
