Avid followers of American Gothic should keep their fingers crossed for Season 2. Showrunner, Corinne Brinkeroff has revealed that Season 2 is still waiting for the go ahead from CBS, but we should be prepared to miss the Hawthornes!
Will there be a Season 2?
As mentioned in an article in the Parent Herald News
, Brinkeroff admitted to ‘The Wrap’ that there already is a storyline in place for Season 2. She went on to say, however, that the second season of the popular murder/mystery “American Gothic” will eventually deal with a new family and a new storyline if and when it gets a renewal.
“”Each season would be a different family, different setting, different mystery,” she said, adding that in doing so, the writers on “American Gothic” can “reinvent the family and the story, which we can do over and over again.”
Brinkeroff did promise that fans will get their answers to the exciting and baffling mystery plus, as a special bonus, will get a hint as to what to expect next time.
They are hoping that they bring back the show next summer as it was originally pitched and billed as Summer TV.
“American Gothic” has been running every Wednesday for 11 weeks so far and fans have been kept guessing and conjecturing on the murderer. Famous american paintings have been used in each episode to further layer the intrigue and add a fun dimension and additional clues for viewers.
The Summer TV show has been all about the prominent Hawthorne family of Boston who are discovered to be personally involved in serial killings that have come back to life after being a cold case for 14 years. “American Gothic” stars Virginia Madsen, Antony Starr, Juliet Rylance, Gabriel Bateman, Justin Chatwin, Megan Ketch, Elliot Knight and Stephanie Leonidas. An interesting fact is that each of the actors have been kept in the dark about the killer even if they were in the final shots.
In the double-episode ending, it is election day. Alison Hawthorne has been campaigning to be mayor from the beginning of the show. But finding out if Alison will become the new mayor will not be their only concern. They will also learn a lot more about the Silver Bells Killer (SBK) that has been threatening their family, and after 13 episodes-so will we!
