Comic Book Artist Steven Dillon Dies

Comic book artist and “Preacher” executive producer Steven Dillon died October 22 in New York City at the age of 54. No further details were given surrounding the circumstances his death; although reports are that what Dillon thought was food poisoning was rather a ruptured appendix.

Dillon was in New York City for Comic Con.

Dillon’s creative prowess first appeared in “Hulk Weekly” in his native England when he was only 16 years old. Over the next 38 years his work has appeared in over 100 comic book series.

Dillon’s work first appeared in the US market in the mini-series “Skreemer”. He worked with writer Garth Ennis on the series. The collaboration continued in other series over the years.

His popular series “Preacher” has been turned into a television series where Dillon served as one of the executive producers. Most recently Dillon has been working with writer Becky Cloonan.

Dillon won the Will Eisner Comic Industry Award for his “Preacher” series.

He was born in London, England on March 22, 1962 but was raised in Luton.

Dillon is survived by his parents Bernard and Muriel; siblings Glyn and Julie; children Anthony, Jamie, and Mark; and two grandchildren.
