Comedic Actor Ricky Harris Has Died

Comedic actor Ricky Harris died December 26 just one week before his 55th birthday. While no official cause of death was revealed, Harris had a heart attack two years ago.

Harris is best known for his role as Malvo on “Everybody Hates Chris”.

Harris appeared in nearly four dozen productions including “Comedy Def Jam”. He made his acting debut in 1993 as Gangsta in “Poetic Justice”. His other film and television roles include “Tales from the Hood”, “Fathers’ Day”, “Hard Rain”, J.W. In six episodes of “Moesha”, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”, “The District”, “Bones”, “The Tracy Morgan Show”, “CSI:NY”, “NYPD Blue”, “ER”, “CSI: Miami”, “The Cape”, and “The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”. He was also scheduled to appear in “The Workout Room” which is in post-production and “Check Point” which has been completed and will air some time in 2017.

Not a rapper, Harris could often be heard on albums by Snoop Dogg and other rappers providing a variety of voices in various sketches including DJ EZ Dicc, TaaDow, and Saul-T-Nutz.

He was born January 1, 1962 in Long Beach, California the son of a preacher. He has been lifelong friends with rapper Snoop Dogg; the two grew up singing in the church choir together.

Predeceased by his father, Harris is survived by his mother and two daughters.
