Fans Rejoice as ‘Charmed’ Reboot Postponed

The CW confirmed on February 3 that the Charmed reboot had been canceled for the time being. It will likely run in the 2018 season instead of the 2017 season.

Fans instantly took to Twitter when they heard their “good” news. It isn’t a secret that Charmed fans hated the idea of the new CW reboot, claiming that it wasn’t even a reboot. The new plans would be set in the 1970s in New England, with no connection to the Halliwell sisters. None of the original actresses would appear – it would have been nearly impossible considering the setting and time period.

Many fans said that they would have given the show a chance had it not been labeled a Charmed reboot. The CW may have listened to those requests, as Digital Spy states that the decision to shelve the project is due to being unhappy with the premise of the show. The news comes after CW boss Mark Pedowitz had shared his excitement over the “self-contained” show.

As the news broke that the Charmed reboot would be postpone, fans shared their relief on Twitter and Charmed forums. One fan shared that it opens the chance to do a movie with the original cast instead. Fans are now calling to sign a petition to alert CBS Studios to the wish to create the movie.

For some fans, the news isn’t surprising. The CW is green lighting a lot of new shows for the 2017-2018 season, despite only canceling one fall show, The Vampire Diaries. While Reign Season 4 is confirmed as its last season, the decision on Frequency, No Tomorrow, iZombie and The Originals is still in the air.

The Charmed reboot isn’t the only show being shelved for the time being. The CW has confirmed Lost Boys is being shelved for the time being.

What do you think about the news on the Charmed reboot? Are you happy that it is being postponed for now?
