Brief Bachelor Recap Feb. 13, 2017:
Corrine, Rachel, Raven and Vanessa were the four lucky women who had hometown dates with Nick this week.
Raven entertained Nick in her hometown of Hoxie, Arkansas. The couple had a fun day together, and everyone was encouraged when Raven’s father revealed he had received good news about the lung cancer treatment he has been receiving. Among the fun activities the couple enjoyed together was climbing to the top of a grain bin, where they were interrupted by a police siren. Then, they got “down and dirty” after they went four-wheeling through mud. Afterwards, the couple cleaned up and met Raven’s family.
In Dallas, Rachel and Nick confronted the issues which could be involved in having an interracial relationship. They started their date by attending church together, where Nick was one of the few white people present. He got along well with her family and everyone seemed to be comfortable. (For followers of the show, it will not come as a shock that Rachel will be the next star of The Bachelorette and will soon be looking for love with her own group of men. However, the rumor is that she remained on the show this week and was chosen to be one of the three women to head off to Finland with Nick for the overnight dates.)
Corinne introduced Nick to her parents and nanny when he visited her in Miami. However, before bringing him home, she took him to a luxury mall where she spent thousands of dollars shopping and purchased Nick a special outfit to impress her family. When he met her family, they all had some tough questions for him. Even the nanny asked Nick what his intentions were. Corinne’s father was especially concerned that Nick would not be able to maintain Corinne’s current lifestyle. (Which could be true, if Dad expects Corinne to have a nanny for the rest of her life.) Corinne insisted that she would not mind being the bread-winner and Nick could be the stay-at-home Dad. Here are a few pictures of the hometown dates.
On the final date, Nick went to Montreal where he spent time with Vanessa. Her class of adult Special Education students approved of him, but things were more complicated with her large Italian family. They wondered how Vanessa would do if she had to move away from her family, job and community. They also did not want to see her heart broken again. Her Dad also told Vanessa that Nick had asked for her father’s blessing. She thought this was a good sign, until her Dad told her that Nick had also asked other parents for their blessing. This worried her and made her feel insecure.
All the women met Nick in New York for a rose ceremony. Just as he was trying to decide which woman should leave the show, Nick was surprised by a visit from Andi, a bachelorette from his past, who showed up to give him advice. Afterwards, he had a clearer idea about what he wanted to do, which we will learn next week.
