It’s no surprise that the NASCAR world loves the animated film series “Cars”; after all the films are about racing. The newest installment of the franchise capitalizes on the current youth trend in NASCAR with a number of new characters and voices.
For the third installment of the series even more NASCAR personnel are joining in to lend their voices to the series.
Four time Champion driver Jeff Gordon, former driver and current broadcaster Darrell Waltrip, and Seven time Champion Richard “The King” Petty are all returning to reprise their roles in the franchise. Joining them as new drivers vying for the “Piston Cup” are Monster Energy Cup Series rookie and current Xfinity Series Champion Daniel Suarez, Monster Energy Cup Series driver Ryan Blaney, Xfinity Series driver Darrell “Bubba” Wallace, and Monster Energy Cup Series driver Chase Elliott are all joining the cast of “Cars 3”.
Suarez will voice Danny Swervez, Blaney is Ryan “Inside” Laney, Wallace is Bubba Wheelhouse, and Elliott is Chase Racelott.
The film is set for a June 16 release, but “Cars” franchise star and the voice of Lightning McQenn Owen Wilson is helping NASCAR to kick off the 2017 racing season as the grand marshal for the Daytona 500 on February 26.
NASCAR and “Cars 3” have joined forces for a season long promotion that will feature a “Cars 3” presence at every Monster Energy Cup Series race in the 2017 season that will include merchandise and in-school educational programs for elementary aged students. Fans can also see life sized creations of “Cars” stars Lightning McQueen and Cruz Ramirez in various tracks throughout the season.
Along with Owen Wilson returning as the voice of Lightning McQueen, the cast of “Cars 3” includes Arnie Hammer as the voice of Jackson Storm, Bonnie Hunt as the voice of Sally Carrera, Tony Shalhoub as the voice of Luigi, Larry the Cable Guy as the voice of Mater, Cristela Alonzo as the voice of Cruz Ramirez, Katherine Helmond as the voice of Lizzie, Cheech Marin as the voice of Ramone, Paul Dooley as the voice of Sarge, Michael Wallis as the voice of the Sheriff, Lloyd Sherr as the voice of Filmore, Guido Quaroni as the voice of Guido, Darrell Walrip as the voice of Darrell Cartrip, and Angel Oquendo as the voice of Bobby Swift.
