As a part of radio station KISS 107.7 FM’s Localized, Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields gave a performance at the Niagara Falls Hard Rock Cafe on February 24.
Tom is one of those musicians who much prefers to perform his own music rather than performing the music of other musicians. Stahl says that he can’t remember the words. But when he does perform a cover song, Stahl says that the original artist has to be, “ a dead guy or a Wiloughby.”
For the February 24 performance the band played all original songs except for a medley of cover songs at the end of each set.
Writing songs about everything from his love of hats to his Grandma and Nursery Rhymnes, Stahl crafts catchy tunes that surround melancholy lyrics. For this performance the set list included “Dad’s Song” about realizing the moment you have become your parents, “The Guy with the Hats”, “Are There Angels”, “Bamboozle”, “End of the World…Again”,”Did You See That?”, “The Out Crowd”, “You’re Here, Be Here”, “The Kings Knew”, “Take a Gander”, “This is not a Love Song”, and “I Wanna Be Ignorant” about a simpler time.
For this performance the Dangerfields was one man short when Stahl’s brother and keyboard player was at home with the flu. Stahl’s own son Sam is also a member of the band as the guitar player.
