Catch the First Trailer for A Ghost Story with Casey Affleck

You may be tempted to laugh when you first see the ghost character in the trailer for “A Ghost Story”. He’s wearing a Halloween ghost sheet in many scenes. But this film, starring Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara, promises to transcend the usual haunting.

A Ghost Story

Is that Casey Affleck?

A24 has just released the trailer for this indie drama that pulls at heart strings and makes viewers ponder about time, space and life after death. David Lowry, who directed “Pete’s Dragon” and “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints”, is at the helm.

The film takes place almost entirely in a Texas house where the “ghost” lived. Wearing his bed sheet, he watches his wife and his past personal space in life closely, trying somehow to reconnect. Variety’s Peter Debruge said in his review, “A Ghost Story” “defies horror movie conventions in this delicate portrait of a restless spirit.”

Scattered reviews have used words like “daring, different, unforgettable and one said, “at times annoying” to describe “A Ghost Story”. The acclaimed film doesn’t take the path most travelled when dealing with ghosts and haunting. Rotten Tomatoes have given it a 92% rating. “It’s about time” is one of the descriptions- and here’s hoping that in reality it’s about time that we enjoy a film as unique as this one promises to be.

Here’s the trailer:

A24 acquired the U.S. rights prior to the film’s premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January of this year. Affleck just recently won the Oscar for Best Actor in the acclaimed film, “Manchester by the Sea”. Mara last acted in Terrence Malick’s “Song to Song”.
