NASCAR: My Bariatric Solutions 300

The Xfinity Series travels to Texas for the My Bariatric Solutions 300 at the newly reconfigured and paved mile and a half Texas Motor Speedway.

For qualifying on Saturday morning it was in the sixties and windy with track temperatures only 69 degrees. After three rounds of qualifying that wasn’t without some excitement, Joey Logano will sit on the pole and lead the field to the green flag.

Stephen Leicht and Mike Harmon failed to qualify for the race.

At race time the track temperature has risen to 109 degrees.

Stages one and two of the race are 45 laps each with stage three lasting 1q10 laps.

Joey Logano brings the field down for the green flag start of the race and takes the lead of the race.

Drivers are getting loose all over the track.

The track was repaved during the off season and had some reconfiguration with turns one and two going from 24 degrees of banking to 20 degrees of banking. As a result the track is slick and treacherous for the drivers; especially if they get out of the narrow groove.

Lap six Joey Logano has a lead of nearly two seconds.

Lap seven Logano’s lead has increased to over two seconds. With the drivers making laps at less than 30 seconds around the track, it will not take long for Logano to begin lapping the slower cars.

Daniel Hemric brought out the first caution flag of the race after spinning out and hitting the wall.

Joey Logano brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 15. Daniel Hemric is on the five minute crash clock. His team must make any repairs on pit road within the five minute time limit and bring his car up to minimum speed or he will be out of the race.

Lap 17 second place driver Erik Jones is challenging lead Joey Logano for the lead. And Ryan Blaney is right behind them.

Daniel Hemric’s team needed only two laps to make the necessary repairts.

Erik Jones takes over the lead of the race on lap 19 and is now being challenged by Ryan Blaney.

Daniel Hemric has a flat tire and is working his way to pit road.

Lap 25 Erik Jones has a lead of a little over half a second on Ryan Blaney.

Jordan Anderson is off the track laps down on lap 28.

Lap 30 Erik Jones holds on to a lead of just over half a second on Ryan Blaney.

With eight laps remaining in the stage Erik Jones has pulled out to a lead of over two secnds. Thater are 28 cars on the lead lap. Carl Long is off the track and Jordan Anderson is out of the race.

Lap 40 Erik Jones has a lead of nearly three seconds with 26 cars on the lead lap.

Erik Jones wins stage one of the race but as a Monster Energy Cup Series driver he will not earn any bonus points.

After taking only two tires William Byron wins the race off of pit road.

Casey Mears has taken his car to the garage with a mechanical issue. Under the new repair rules, Mears can return to the track, the five minute clock only refers to crash damage.

After a red flag delay to clean up the track after Casey Mears spills oil on th track , William Byron brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two on lap 58 and takes the lead of the race but gets loose on lap two and Ryan Blaney takes over the lead of the race but gets passed by Daniel Suarez for the lead.

Casey Mears is out of the race with mechanical issues.

Lap 60 Ryan Blaney takes over the lead of the race after Daniel Suarez brushes the wall. The track stays green.

The third caution flag of the race comes out on lap 61 when Daniel Suarez spins out. Michael Annett is the “lucky dog”.

Ryan Blaney brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 65 and takes the lead of the race. Getting three wide several cars get into a crash and bring out the fourth caution flag of the race. Brennan Poole, Darrell Wallace Jr, Tyler Reddick, Justin Allgaier Brandon Jones, Brendan Gaughan, and Kevin Harvick were all involved in the crash.

Ryan Blaney brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 71 with Ryan Blaney takeing the lead of the race.

Lap 76 Ryan Blaney has pulled out to a lead of nearly two seconds over second place driver William Byron.

The fifth caution flag comes out on lap 83 when Garrett Smithley got loose and spins out.

With only three laps remaining in stage two, William Byron brings the field down for the green flag restart and pulls out in front of the field with Elliott Sadler right behind him.

William Byron wins stage two and the playoff points.

Erik Jones brings the field down for the green flag start of stage three on lap 98 and pulls out in front.

Lap 104 Erik Jones has a lead of over a second on Ryan Blaney with third place driver Joey Logano nearly three seconds behind.

Lap 296 Erik Jones has increased his lead to over a second.

Lap 110 Erik Jones continues to lead the race with a lead of over a second on Ryan Blaney.

Lap 115 Erik Jones continues to lead the field with 25 cars on the lead lap and four cars out of the race.

Austin Dillon reports radio issues.

Lap 120 Erik Jones lead is down to less than half a second over Ryan Blaney.

Lap 130 Ryan Blanes has caught Erik Jones and passed Jones to take over the lead of the race.

Lap 136 Ryan Blaney has pulled out to a lead of over hald a second with only 19 cars on the lead lap.

The 20 mile an hour winds are beginning to give the drivers a bit of a challenge.

Lap 140 Ryan Blaney ha a lead of just over half a second with only 18 cars on the lead lap. Ty Dillon begins the cycle of green flag pit stops.

Lap 143 Ryan Blaney has pulled out to a lead of over a second as more drivers begin their green flag pit stops.

Joey Logano reports that he may have lsot a cylinder. The hood is up on pit road.

Ryan Blaney brings his car down pit road on lap 148 and gives the lead over to Cole Custer.

Joey Logano takes his car to the garage.

Lap 149 Darrell Wallace Jr takes over the lead as green flag pit stops continue.

Lap 150 Bubba Wallace comes down pit road for service and giving the lead to Brandon Jones.

After green flag pit stops have cycled through, Erik Jones takes over the lead of the race.

Lap 161 Erik Jones has a lead of over two seconds on Ryan Blaney with only 12 cars on the lead lap. Joey Logano is out of the race with engine issues.

Lap 167 Erik Jones has pulled out to a lead of over two seconds with only eleven cars on the lead lap and six cars out of the race.

Lap 173 Erik Jones has increased his lead to nearly three seconds over Ryan Blaney, third place driver Kevin Harvick is over 17 seconds behind with 10 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 178 Erik Jones has just put the number 10 postion car – Elliott Sadler – down a lap.

Twenty to go, Erik Jones has a lead of nearly three seconds wih only nine cars on the lead lap.

Fifteen to go and Erik Jones continues to dominate the race with a lead of over two and a half seconds.

Ten to go, Erik Jones has a lead of nearly three seconds with only nine cars on the lead lap.

Eight to go and Erik Jones has pulled out to a lead of over three seconds over Ryan Blaney.

Five to go and Erik Jones is still out in fron by over two seconds.

Three to go and Erik Jones lead has shrunk to just over a second and a half.

Erik Jones takes the white flag.

Erik Jones takes the checkered flag and wins the seventh race of his career.
