2017 NFL Draft – Round 1

For the first time in over 50 years the National Football League holds their annual college football draft from the City of Brotherly Love – Philadelphia. On a hot spring night the NFL presents the annual draft outside on the steps of the Art Museum – the famous “Rocky” steps.

After being booed by the very large crowd – some 70,000, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell welcomes the crowd and puts the Cleveland Browns on the clock with the first pick in the 2017 NFL draft; and with that the 2017 NFL draft is under way.

Philadelphia was also the site of the very first NFL draft 80 years ago o 1937.

Only the first round will be held on April 27, rounds two and three will be held on April 28, with the remaining rounds being held on April 29.

In a highly anticipated pick, the Cleveland Browns chose Myles Garrett a defensive end from Texas A&M.

The Chicago Bears traded up one spot to take the second draft pick from the San Francisco 49ers.

The Chicago Bears chose Mitchell Trubisky a quarterback form the University of North Carolina. The San Francisco 49ers are on the clock.

The San Francisco 49ers chose Solomon Thomas a defensive lineman from Stanford University. The Jacksonville Jaguars are on the clock.

The Jacksonville Jaguars chose Leonard Fournette a running back from LSU. The Tennessee Titans are on the clock.

In a trade from the Los Angeles Rams, the Tennessee Titans chose Corey Davis a wide receiver from Western Michigan University. The New York Jets are on the clock.

The New York Jets chose Jamal Adam a defensive back – safety – from LSU. The Los Angeles Chargers are on the clock.

The Los Angeles Rams chose Mike Williams a wide receiver from Clemson University. The Carolina Panthers are on the clock.

The Carolina Panthers chose Christian McCaffrey a running back from Stanford. The 2014 Walter Payton Man of the Year Thomas Davis made the announcement. The Cincinnati Bengals are on the clock.

The Cinncinati Bengals chose John Roos a wide receiver from Washington University. This is the first time in 18 years that the Bengals have not chosen a player from a school in the Southeastern Conference. The Kansas City Chiefs are on the clock.

In a trade from the Buffalo Bills, the Kansas City Chiefs chose Patrick Mahomes II at quarterback from Texas Tech. The New Orleans Saints are on the clock.

The New Orleans Saints chose Marshon Lattimore a defensive back – cornerback – from Ohio State University. The Houston Texans are on the clock.

In a trade from the Cleveland Brown, the Houston Texans chose Deshaun Watson a quarterback from Clemson University. The Arizona Cardinals are on the clock.

The Arizona Cardinals chose Haason Reddick a linebacker from Temple University. The Philadelphia Eagles are on the clock.

The Philadelphia Eagles chose Kerek Barnett a defensive end from Tennessee. Members of the Philadelphia area Martin Luther King football team joined the Commissioner on the stage for the announcement. The Indianapolis Colts are on the clock.

The Indianapolis Cotls chose Malik Hooker a defensive back – safety – from Ohio State University. The Baltimore Ravens are on the clock.

The Baltimore Ravens chose Maron Humphrey a defensive back – cornerback – from the University of Alabama. TJ a 14 year old cancer survivor who was fulfilling a wish with the Make a Wish program made the announcement. The Washington Redskins are on the clock.

The Washington Redskins chose Jonathan Allen a defensive end fro the University of Alabama. The Tennessee Titans are on the clock.

The Tennessee Titans chose Adoree Jackson a defensive back – cornerback – from Tennessee. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on the clock.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers chose O.J. Howard a tight end from Alabama. The Denver Broncos are on the clock.

The Denver Broncos chose Garett Bolles a tackle from Utah. The Detroit Lions are on the clock.

The Detroit Lions chose Jarrad Davis a linebacker from the University of Florida. The Miami Dolphins are on the clock.

The Miami Dolphins chose Charles Harris a defensive end from Missouri. The New York Giants are on the clock.

The New York Giants chose Evan Engram a tight end from Ole Miss. The Oakland Raiders are on the clock.

The Oakland Raiders chose Gareon Conley a defensive back – cornerback – from Ohio State University. The Cleveland Browns are on the clock.

The Cleveland Browns chose Jabrill Peppers a defensive back – safety – from Michigan. The Atlanta Falcons are on the clock.

In a trade from the Seattle Seahawks, the Atlanta Falcons chose Takkarist McKinley a defensive end – linebacker – from UCLA. The Buffalo Bills are on the clock.

The Buffalo Bills chose Tre’Davious White a defensive back – cornerback – from LSU. The Dallas Cowboys are on the clock.

The Dallas Cowboys chose Taco Charlton a defensive end from Michigan. The Cleveland Browns are on the clock.

In a trade from the Green Bay Packers, the Cleveland Browns make their third first round pick of the night with David Njoku a tight end from the University of Miami. The Pittsburgh Steelers are on the clock.

The Pittsburgh Steelers chose T.J. Watt a linebacker from Wisconsin. Former Pittsburgh Steelers Franco Harris and Jerome Betis paid tribute to owner Dan Rooney who died April 13 with photos of Rooney on display behind them. Jerome Betis made the announcement. The San Francisco 49ers are on the clock.

In a trade from the Seattle Seahawks, the San Francisco 49ers chose Reuben Foster a linebacker from the University of Alabama. The New Orleans Saints are on the clock.

In a trade from the New England Patriots, the New Orleans Saints make the final pick of the first round in the 2017 NFL draft with Ryan Ramczyk a tackle from Wisconsin.

The 2017 NFL draft will continue on Friday April 28 with rounds two and three.
