CWTS Races in Gateway Motorsports Park

For the second week in a row, the Camping World Truck Series races in a stand alone event when they travel to Illinois for the Gateway 200 at Gateway Motorsports Park.

Camping World rookie Chase Briscoe won the pole in record breaking qualifying event and will bring the field down for the green flag.

Stages one and two of the race will be 35 laps each with stage three lasting 90 laps; but bad weather may come into play with questions of whether or not they will be able to get in the complete race.

Chase Briscoe brings the field down for the green flag start of the race and is challenged by John Hunder Nemechek for the lead. John Hunter edges out to lead the first lap.

On lap three John Hunter Nemechek has a half second lead on pole sitter Chase Briscoe.

Six laps into the race and Jennifer Jo Cobb is off the track. John Hunter Nemechek continues to lead the race by over half a second on Chase Briscoe.

Lap nine Travis Kvapil is also off the track with one truck a lap down.

Lap 15 John Hunter Nemecheck continues to lead by half a second over Chase Briscoe with 20 trucks on the lead lap and five trucks off the track.

Lap 18 John Hunter Nemechek gets a challenge from Case Briscoe for the lead but gets caught up in lapped traffic. There are 18 trucks on the lead lap. Travis Kvapil, Joe Nemechek, Tommy Regan, Cliff Greenfield, and Jennifer Jo Cobb are all out of the race.

Lap 25 John Hunter Nemechek continues his lead of the race by less than half a second.

Lap 28 there are only 16 trucks on the lead lap.

Lap 29 Chase Briscoe again gives John Hunter Nemechek a challenge for the lead but so far John Hunter has held him off.

Dominating stage one, John Hunter Nemechek wins stage one.

Taking only two tires, Chase Briscoe wins the race off of pit road. John Hunter Nemechek takes four tires and falls back in the field several spots back.

Todd Gilliland was penalized for having an uncontrolled tire on pit road.

Chase Briscoe brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two and holds on to the lead of the race. Eighteen trucks start stage two on the lead lap.

Lap 45 from third place John Hunter Nemechek has pulled to within half a second of lead Chase Briscoe.

Lap 48 Chase Briscoe has pulled out to near a half second lead on Matt Crafton.

Lap 52 Chase Briscoe’s lead is down to less than half a second on Matt Crafton with 18 trucks on the lead lap.

Lap 60 Chase Briscoe continues to lead the stage with just under a half second lead on Matt Crafton; John Hunter Nemechek is one second back in third with 17 trucks on the lead lap.

Lap 65 Chase Briscoe continues to dominate the stage with a lead of just under half a second on Mat Crafton.

Chase Briscoe wins stage two.

Christopher Bell wins the race off of pit road after taking only two tires.

Christopher Bell brings the field down for the green start of stage three on lap 78 and holds on to the lead of the race. There are 16 trucks on the lead lap.

Lap 80 Chase Briscoe gives Christopher Bell a challenge for the lead with Ryan Truex in third. Chase Briscoe takes over the lead of the race on lap 81.

Lap 85 Chase Briscoe holds on to the lead by over half a second on Christopher Bell.

Lap 93 Chase Briscoe has pulled out to a lead of nearly a second and a half on second place driver Christopher Bell. There are 16 trucks on the lead lap.

Lap 97 Chase Briscoe’s lead is now over a second and a half over Christopher Bell.

Lap 100 and pole sitter Chase Briscoe continues to lead the race.

Lap 105 Chase Briscoe has increased his lead to over two seconds on Christopher Bell with 16 trucks on the lead lap.

The drivers have been fighting hard for spots but the track has stayed clean and the only caution flags have been those that marked the end of the stages.

Lap 111 Chase Briscoe is now two and a half seconds ahead of Christopher Bell.

Todd Gilliland breaks the transmission but gets his truck down pit road and the track stays green. This is Gilliland’s first career DNF.

Lap 117 Chase Briscoe’s lead is approaching the three second mark on Christopher Bell.

Lap 125 Chase Briscoe has a near four second lead on second place driver Matt Crafton.

Lap 127 Ben Rhodes makes a green flag pit stop, beginning the cycle of green flag pit stops early.

Cody Coughlin was caught speeding on pit road.

With 30 laps remaining in the race, Chase Briscoe has a lead of over 13 seconds on Grant Enginger as green flag pit stops continue to cycle through.

Lap 132 Chase Briscoe brings his truck down pit road for service.

Matt Crafton passes Chase Briscoe as Briscoe comes off of pit road. Justin Haley is in the lead since he has yet to come down pit road.

Once the green flag pit stops have cycled through, Matt Crafton takes over the lead of the race by half a second over Chase Briscoe.

Twenty to go and Matt Crafton has a lead of less than half a second on Chase Briscoe. It has been over a year since CWTS champion Matt Crafton has won a race. Rooke Chase Briscoe is still looking for his first win.

There are only 12 trucks on the lead lap.

Fifteen to go and Matt Crafton continues to lead the race by over half a second as the drivers get three wide behind on the marrow track.

The caution flag comes out with only 12 laps to go in the race when Josh Reaume can not get off of the track.

Chase Briscoe and Justin Haley are the only two trucks that come down pit road for fresh tires.

Matt Crafton brings the field down for the green flag restart with nine laps to go in the race. Christopher Bell and John Hunter Nemechek challenge Crafton for the lead but so far Craafton holds them off.

Six to go and John Hunter Nemechek passes Matt Crafton for the lead of the race.

Five to go John Hunter Nemechek has a half second lead on Matt Crafton.

Four to go Chase Briscoe has moved up to fourth place with his four fresh tires.

Three to go John Hunter Nemechek continues to hold a half second lead on Christopher Bell with Chase Briscoe one second behind in third.
