The June 19, 2017 episode of The Bachelorette with Rachel Lindsay was postponed from the preceding week because of the NBA basketball finals. However, the drama was just as intense, despite the wait. Now that Rachel had narrowed her group of suitors down to eighteen men, fans were beginning to get to know them better. Last week, she sent the “WhaaBoom” man, Lucas, home. The conflicts between the remaining men were not over, however.
Below is a brief recap of the show, as well as the list of the men who received roses this week … and those who did not.
SPOILER ALERT: Do not read further if you do not want to know what happened this week!
Brief Bachelorette Recap June 19, 2017:
Rachel is a bright, beautiful Dallas attorney who now wants to set aside her career long enough to meet a potential husband. This week she started out with 18 men, after sending five home last week.
This week’s episode began with a continuation of the cocktail party which fans were watching at the end of the last episode, during which Eric angrily told the other bachelors to stop talking about him. This week, the tension became even more pronounced after Lee stole Rachel away from Kenny for a second conversation, which resulted in a confrontation between the two men. This competitive group of men continued to upset each other.
While the other men quarreled, Bryan spent a few minutes with Rachel and told her he wanted her to feel safe with him. She said he is a breath of fresh air compared to what has gone on with the other men.
Rachel was upset that there was so much drama during the cocktail party and just wanted to get it over. She said she was disappointed in the men. She decided not to mingle and go straight to the rose ceremony. (See who received roses later in this article.)
After the rose ceremony, the remaining men were surprised when Rachel told them they were going to go to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where she hoped to get a fresh start. She asked the men to leave the negativity and drama behind.
Once in Hilton Head, Rachel chose Dean for the first one-on-one date, which included a ride on the Goodyear Blimp, despite his fear of heights and experience with motion sickness in the past. They had fun in the blimp and even flew over the other men at the Sonesta Resort. At dinner, Dean talked about his mother’s death from breast cancer and how her loss caused his family to break apart. Her biggest concern was his youth. She wanted to be convinced he is mature enough for marriage and a family. After their conversation, Rachel gave Dean their date rose. After dinner, she took him to a private concert where they enjoyed a romantic slow dance to the music of country star, Russell Dickerson.
The next day, nearly all of the remaining men, including Anthony, Alex, Bryan, Peter, Adam, Jonathan, Kenny, Matt, Iggy, Lee, Eric, Josiah and Will, took a fun cruise around Hilton Head Island. Jack was the only man not included, which indicated he could expect a one-on-one date with Rachel. After the cruise, the men were surprised to discover, however, that this week’s competition was a spelling bee! Josiah won the spelling bee and received a trophy. During the after party at the Hilton Head Yacht Club, the evening could not end without some of the men becoming irritated with each other again. This time it was Josiah who got upset and angry with the other men after he felt they were complaining about him to Rachel. She spent a lot of the evening listening to the different men defend themselves and complain about each other. By the end of the evening, Kenny and Lee were in another altercation.
The drama will be continued next week in a two-part event on Monday, June 26 and Tuesday, June 27, 2017.
