NASCAR Issues New Hampshire Penalties

The lug monster strikes again!

NASCAR (11)

Last weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway Monster Energy Cup Series drivers from Joe Gibbs Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing were penalized after post race inspection revealed that the cars did not have all 20 lug nuts secured on the tires.

Crew chief Scott Graves for the number 19 Joe Gibbs Racing car driven by rookie Daniel Suarez was fined $10,000 for the infraction.

Crew Chief Tony Gibson for the Stewart-Haas Racing number 41 car driven by Kurt Busch was also fined $10,000 for the rules violation.

Both drivers finished the race in the top 10 and will not see their finishes encumbered in any way.

No other teams in either the Xfinity Series or the Monster Energy Cup Series were charged with a rules infraction, but drivers who had difficulty getting through pre-qualifying inspection at New Hampshire will be charged with a 15 minute practice time penalty where they will have to sit at the end of pit road for the first 15 minutes of practice.
