The original Pink Floyd band may no loner be together performing music, but Pink Floyd fans have nothing to fear with bands like the Australian Pink Floyd.
On July 21 as a part of Australian weekend the rockers from Down Under known as the Australian Pink Floyd traveled halfway around the world to perform in the Events Center of the Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino.
The show was much more than a simple concert, it was a full out performance with a light show and video images.
When fans entered the Events Center they saw a large round screen where all through the show were photos and video images playing behind the band including images of current political world leaders and newscasters. The stage was filled with lights to simulate a laser show to light up the room. Very much like the original Pink Floyd the Australian Pink Floyd were often overwhelmed by all the lights and video to remain somewhat in the shadows.
But ultimately, it was all about the music and the six piece band band did not disappoint.
After opening the show with a performance of the entire “Dark Side of the Moon” album – “Speak to Me”, “Breath (in the Air)”, “On the Run”, “Time”, “The Great Gig in the Sky”, “Money”, “Us and Them”, “Any Colour You Like”, “Brain Damage”, and “Eclipse” – the band performed some of Pink Floyd’s biggest hits including “Another Brick in the Wall”, “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”, and “Wish You Were Here”. These performances were not quick radio edits but they were full on album cuts some lasting for several minutes.
After an hour and a half show, fans clamoured for more with loud applause and cheering. The band performed an encore of “Comfortably Numb”.
In the end the full house of fans left wanting more but happy with the show after a night of great music.
