Rowdy Night for Xfinity Series in Thunder Valley

This week the Xfintity Racing Series travels to Thunder Valley for a little night racing at Bristol Motor Speedway for the Food City 300.

Due to a rain storm on Friday afternoon, NASCAR officials shortened qualifying to just one 20 minute round. After winning the pole and the race in the Camping World Truck Series on Wednesday night, Kyle Busch continues his attempt to sweep the weekend by winning the pole. He will bring the field down for the green flag start of the race under the lights Friday night for his 63rd pole.

Stages one and two of the race are 85 laps with stage three lasting 130 laps for a total of 300 laps around the half mile track.

Choosing the outside lane, Kyle Busch brings the field down for the green flag start of the race and edges out Joey Logano to take the lead of the race. Justin Allgaier jumps out and takes over second place.

Seven laps into the race and Kyle Busch holds on to his lead with Justin Allgaier right behind him.

David Starr brings out the first caution flag of the race on lap 13 after hitting the wall.

Kyle Busch brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 17 and immediately gets challenged by Justin Allgaier. Allgaier takes the lead but Busch isn’t quite ready to let it go and passes Allgaier briefly before Allgaier retakes the lead with Kyle Busch on his bumper.

The second caution flag of the race comes out on lap 24 when Aric Almirola and Ryan Reed have significant damage to their cars after making contact.

Justin Allgaier brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 30 and holds on to the lead of the race.

Lap 32 Kyle Busch challenges Justin Allgaier for the lead and retakes it on lap 33.

Lap 39 Kyle Busch has pulled out to a lead of over a second on Justin Allgaier with Joey Logano in third.

The third caution flag of the race comes out when Ryan Reed cuts a tire.

Kyle Busch brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 44 and is immediately challenged by Justin Allgaier but Busch holds on to his lead.

Lap 50 Kyle Busch has a lead of over a second on Justin Allgaier with Tyler Reddick in third. Driving a purple car, Dale Earnhardt Jr has moved up to tenth place after starting in 17th.

Lap 54 Kyle Busch has pulled out to a lead of a second and a half on Justin Allgaier with 34 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 62 Kyle Busch continues to hold a lead of a second and a half on Justin Allgaier with 29 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 72 Kyle Busch has led 55 of the laps so far and has a lead of over two seconds on Justin Allgaier.

Lap 79 Kyle Busch has increased his lead over Justin Allgaier to over two and a half seconds.

With a lead of nearly three seconds, Kyle Busch wins stage one.

Kyle Busch wins the race off of pit road with Justin Allgaier in second.

Ty Dillon, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, and Brandon Gaughan were all caught speeding on pit road. Pit road speeds are only 30mph. Three of the drivers were in the top 10.

Justin Allgaier brings the field down for the green lap start of stage two on lap 95 and pulls out in front for the lead of the race. Kyle Busch restarted in 19th place. There are 23 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 105 Justin Allgaier lead the race with Daniel Suarez in second and Austin Dillon in third.

Lap 112 Justin Allgaier is in the lead with 21 cars on the lead lap. Daniel Suarez is closing in on Allgaier and challenging for the lead. Kyle Bush is up to 14th place.

Lap 120 Justin Allgaier has a lead of less than half a second on Daniel Suarez. Kyle Bush is in the top 10.

Brandon Jones brings out the caution flag on lap 125 with two flat tires after getting loose and hitting the inside wall.

A few of the drivers come down pit road for adjustments but do not take tires.

Justin Allgaier brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap130 and gets out in front of Daniel Suarez for the lead. Drivers are getting thre wide on the narrow track.

Daniel Suarez challenges Justin Allgaier for the lead but Justin Allgaier holds on to the lead of the race.

Lap 142 Justin Allgaier leads the race with 19 cars on the lead lap. Kyle Busch is in eighth place.

Lap 148 Daniel Suarez challenges Justin Allgaier for the lead and after the two swap the lead back and forth for a few laps Daniel Suarez finally gets past Allgaier for the lead of the race.
Lap 153 Kyle Busch is in fourth place.

Lap 155 Kyle Busch passes Justin Allgaier for second place.

Lap 157 Kyle Busch passes Daniel Suarez to retake the lead of the race. It took Busch 58 laps to move through the field and retake the lead.

Lap 161 Kyle Busch has already pulled out to a lead of over a second and a half over Daniel Suarez.

Kyle Busch wins stage two with only 16 cars on the lead lap.

Kyle Busch’s team reports that at 35.03mph Kyle was the slowest of the cars caught for speeding at the end of stage one.

Daniel Suarez wins the race off of pit road followed by Justin Allgaier and Kyle Busch.

Tyler Reddick was caught for speeding on pit road.

Daniel Suarez brings the field down for the green flag start of stage three and jumps out in front of the field for the lead of the race on lap 180.

The top three are Daniel Suarez, Elliott Sadler, and Justin Allgaier.

Lap 183 Kyle Busch runs the high line and passes Justin Allgaier for third, setting his sights on Elliott Sadler and Daniel Suarez.

Lap 187 Elliott Sadler passes Daniel Suarez for the lead of the race. There are 18 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 195 Kyle Busch passes Daniel Suarez for second. Elliott Sadler leads the race.

Lap 202 Kyle Busch passes Elliott Sadler for the lead of the race.

Lap 213 Kyle Bush has pulled out to a lead of over two seconds on Daniel Suarez.

The seventh caution flag of the race comes out when Tommy Joe Martins hits the wall.

Drivers bring their cars down pit road for that last set of fresh tires.

Lap 231 Kyle Busch has a lead of over a second on Ty Dillon.

Lap 240 Kyle Busch continues to dominate the race with a lead of nearly a second on Daniel Suarez.

NBC broadcasters report that the noise level in Thunder Valley exceeds 140 decibels – equal to the noise heard on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier!

Fifty to go and Kyle Busch has increased his lead to over a second on Daneil Suarez.

Brendan Gaughan brought his car down pit road for an unscheduled pit stop with a tire issue.

Lap 169 Kyle Busch continues to hold a lead of over a second on Daniel Suarez. He has reported a vibration in the car but shows no on track signs of a problem.

Lap 176 Kyle Busch has a lead of over a second on Daniel Suarez with 13 cars on the lead lap.

Eighteen laps remaining in the race and Daniel Suarez has closed the gap to Kyle Busch to less than a second.

Brendan Gaughan brings out the eighth caution flag of the race when he makes contact with Jeb Burton and gets into the wall on lap 185. Gaughan’s car is on fire behind the front left tire..

Kyle Busch brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 292 and jumps out in front of Daniel Suarez for the lead.

William Byron has a flat tire but gets to pit road and the track stays green.

With four laps remaining in the race, Kyle Bush has a lead of nearly a second on Daniel Suarez.

Kyle Busch takes the white flag.

Leading 186 laps Kyle Busch earns Xfintiy Series win number 91 for his second win of the week. Bush will go for the sweep in the Monster Energy Cup race on Saturday night. He is the only driver to complete the sweep of three races in Bristol. Busch has said that once he reaches 100 Xfinity Series wins, he will stop running in the series.
