After taking a short break, the lug nut monster struck with a vengeance in Thunder Valley last weekend with three teams receiving penalties.
In post race inspection after the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race in Bristol, the number 19 Monster Energy Cup Series Joe Gibbs Racing car driven by rookie Daniel Suarez was found to have one lug nut loose. As a result of the infraction, number 19 car crew chief Scott Graves has been fined $10,000. This marks the third time that Graves has been fined for a lug nut infraction in the 2017 racing season. He was also charged with the penalty Pocono and New Hampshire.
After the UNOH 200 Camping World Truck Series race on Wednesday night the number 51 Kyle Busch Motorsports truck driven by Harrison Burton was found to have a loose lug nut in post race inspection. Truck chief Kevin “Bono” Manion was fined $2,500 for the infraction.
Camping World Truck Series Copp Motorsports number 83 driven by J.J. Yeley was also found to have a loose lug nut with truck chief Richard Mason being fined $2,500.
This week the Camping World Truck Series and the Monster Energy Cup Series drivers have the weekend off, but the Xfinity Series travels north of the border for some road racing in Road America.
