On August 27 MTV held their annual Video Music Awards. This year’s awards presentation was hosted by Katy Perry who entered the stage dressed like the moonperson statuette presented to the winners.

In a politically charged, performance packed show Ed Sheeran, Julia Michaels, Shawn Mendes, Lorde, Fifth Harmony, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, James Arthur, Alessia Cara, 30 Seconds to Mars, Sir Rod Stewart and DNCE, and MTV VMA Vanguard winner Pink were all among the artists who gave live performances throughout the night. And the surviving members of Linkin Park gave a tribute performance to their fallen leader Chester Bennington. Host Katy Perry closed out the show with some help from Nicki Minaj.
MTV also presented a world premiere sneak peak at the video for her new single “Look What You Made Me Do”.
