Teens, Rookies Rule CWTS Road Race

This weekend the Camping World Truck Series travels north of the border for mos road racing at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park wit the Chevrolet Silverado 250.

After two rounds of qualifying, setting a new track record of 78.60 seconds Austin Cindric won the pole position and will bring the field to green. This is Cindric” first CWTS pole.

Stages one and two of the race are only 20 laps each with stage three lasting 24 laps.

Austin Cindric brings the field down for the green flag start of the race with the pole sitter getting out in front of the field for the lead in his 19 truck.

Before the first lap is complete Austin Cindric has a lead of over half a second on second place driver Kaz Grala.

Lap two Cindric has pulled out to a lead of over a second on Kaz Grala. Tommy Regan is out of the race.

Lap five Kaz Grala has closed to a half second behind leader Austin Cindric.

Lap six Jennifer Jo Cobb, Mike Senica, and Joe Nemechek are off the track. Austin Cindric has led every lap so far.

Lap eight Austin Cindric is still in the lead with a one second lead on Kaz Grala. There are 26 trucks on the lead lap.

Lap nine Austin Cindric and Kaz Grala have a lead of over four seconds on third place driver Christopher Bell.

With a fuel run of around 32 laps, some drivers are planning on making only one pit stop during the 64 lap race.

Halfway through stage one, Joe Nemechek is out of the race, Todd Peck joins the drivers off the track, and Austin Cindric continues to lead the race with 26 trucks on the lead lap.

Austin Cindric continues to dominate stage one, leading all 15 laps so far. He has a lead of a second on second place driver Kaz Grala.

Austin Cindric wins stage one for his first stag win of the season. Cindric celebrated his 19th birthday yesterday.

Only a few drivers came down pit road for service at the end of the stage. A few had pitted under green earlier; while others are on a one stop strategy.

Austin Cindric brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two on lap 23 and holds on to his lead with Christopher Bell taking over the second spot from Kaz Grala.

The caution flag comes out on lap 24 for a stalled truck on the track.

Second place driver Christopher Bell brings his truck down pit road for service.

Austin Cindric brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 27 and holds on to the lead over John Hunter Nemechek. There are 23 trucks on the lead lap.

Lap 30 Austin Cindrc continues to dominate the race.

Lap 32 Austin Cindric brings his truck down pit road for service. When he leaves pit road the gas can is still attached and he is charged with a stop and go penalty.

John Hunter Nemeched is charged with speeding on pit road and must serve a pass through penalty.

Alex Tagliani had engine issues when he came down pit road.

Ryan Truex is not the leader of the race.

Justin Haley had issues on pit road for the second time.

Matt Crafton makes a third visit to pit road.

Ryan Truex wins stage two.

After pit stops are complete, Parker Kligerman and Todd Gilliland bring the field down for the green flag start of stage three on lap 44 but Kaz Grala passes both driver to take over the lead of the race. Pole sitter Austin Cindric restarts in 16th place.

Christopher Bell blows an engine and brings out the fourth caution flag of the race.

In less than one lap, Austin Cindric has moved into the top 10.

Matt Crafton’s truck comes to a stop on the track during the caution.

Kaz Grala brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 55 with Kaz Grala taking the lead of the race. Austin Cindric restart the race in ninth place. The drivers get four wide across the track with Noah Gragson taking third place.

Before the end of the lap Austin Cindric has moved up to seventh place

Lap 56 Austin Cindric is now in fifth place.

Cody Coughlin spins out and gets stuck in the mud but the track stays green.

Lap 57 the fifth caution flag of the race comes out for Cody Coughlin stopped on the track.

Austin Cindric will restart the race in fourth place.

Kaz Grala brings the field down for the green flag restart with only nine laps remaining in the race. Kaz Grala holds on to the lead of the race with Justin Haley in Second, followed by Noah Gragson in third.

All of the top four drivers are teenagers.

With eight laps remaining Kaz Grala is in the lead of the race with Austin Cindric in third.

Seven to go, the top three – Kaz Grala, Noah Gragson, and Austin Cindric.

Six to go,it’s Kaz Grala,Noah Gragson, Austin Cindric, Justin Haley, and Johnny Sauter in the top five.

Five to go and Austin Cindric takes over second place from Noah Gragson with a bump and run pass.

John Hunter Nemechek got loose and hit the wall but the track stays green.

Kaz Grala had a lead ov a second and a half on Austin Cindric when Cindric took second place and five laps to go. With four laps remaining in the race that lead is down to a second.

With two laps to go Austin Cindric has closed the lead to just over half a second on Kaz Grala.

Kaz Grala takes the white flag – last lap!

Final lap, Austin Cindric has caught Kaz Grala and battle for the lead. With a bump and run, Austin Cindric spins out Kaz Grala to take the lead and the win of the race.

The CWTS has run five races at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park and every win has been by a teenager with an average age of 18.75.
