Historic Finish for Xfinity Series at Chicagoland

On this second race of a triple header weekend, the Xfinity Series completes their regular season with the Chicagoland 300 and will set the 12 drivers who will compete in the playoffs for the championship.

Erik Jones won the pole and will bring the field down for the green flag.

Stages one and two of the race will be 45 laps each with stage three lasting 110 laps for a total of 200 laps around the mile and a half track.

Erik Jones brings the field down for the green flag start of the race and jumps out in front for the lead of the race.

Lap fiive Erik Jones is in the lead of the race with Daniel Suarez, Ryan Baney, and Kyle Larson following.

Lap seven Erik Jones has pulled out to a lead of over a second and a half on Ryan Blaney.

Lap 16 Erik Jones has pulled out to a lead of nearly three seconds on Daniel Suarez. There are 35 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 19 the top four are Erik Jones, Ryan Blaney, Kyle Larson, and Cole Custer.

Lap 21 Erik Jones has increased his lead to nearly four seconds on Ryan Blaney.

Lap 22 Kyle Larson passes Rya Blaney to take over second place but is ovr three seconds behind lead Erik Jones.

Lap 25 Erik Jones maintains a lead of over three seconds on Kyle Larson.

William Byron is slowing on the track reporting a transmission issue. He brings his car down pit road.

Lap 30 Erik Jones continues to dominate the race.

Lap 37 Erik Jones continues to lead the race with Kyle Larson less than a second behind.

Lap 39 Erik Jones’ lead is down to just over half a second over Kyle Larson as Larson continues to gain on the leader. There are 19 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 42 Erik Jones passes Brendan Gaughan to put him a lap down, leaving only 17 cars on the lead lap.

With two laps remaining in the stage, Kyle Larson hit the wall but the track stays green.

Erik Jones brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two on lap 53 and continues to lead the race after a side by side battle with Cole Custer.

Lap 55 Erik Jones has already pulled out to a half second lead on Cole Custer.

Lap 61 Erik Jones has led every lap so far as he continues to dominate the race. He has a lead of over half a second on Cole Custer. There are 18 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 70 Erik Jones has a lead of nearly a second on Cole Custer. Brendan Gaughan is the last car on the lead lap and is off the pace.

Lap 73 Erik Jones has passed Brendan Gaughan leaving 17 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 78 Erik Jones has again pulled way out in front of the field with a lead of nearly a second and a half on ole Custer.

Lap 85 Erik Jones has pulled out to a lead of over two seconds on Cole Custer. Erik Jones has led all but one lap according to NASCAR because Cole Custer was credited with leading a lap before Jones passed him to reclaim the lead.

With two laps remaining in the stage, Erik Jones has a lead of nearly three seconds on Cole Custer.

Cole Custer and Daniel Suarez bring the field down for the green flag start of stage three on lap 97 with Cole Custer getting out in front for the lead of the race.

The top four are Cole Custer, Kyle Larson, Daniel Suarez, and Austin Dillon.

Lap 100 Cole Custer has a lead of over half a second on Kyle Larson.

Lap 104 Cole Custer’s lead is now over a second on Kyle Larson.

Lap 107 there are 18 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 114 Cole Custer continues to lead the race with a half second lead on Kyle Larson.

Lap 118 there are five cars out of the race.

Kyle Larson has caught up with Cole Custer and is challenging for the lead.

Lap 120 Cole Custer and Kyle Larson battle for the lead with Cole Custr holding on to the lead and pulling out to a half second lead on lap 123.

Lap 125 there are 18 cars on the lead lap. Kyle Larson has again caught up with ole Custer and is challenging for the lead.

Lap 127 Kyle Larson takes the lead but Cole Custer retakes the lead.

Lap 128 Kyle Larson continues to challenge Cole Custer for the lead.

Lap 131 Kyle Larson finally gets around Cole Custer to take the lead of the race.

Lap 136 there are 17 cars on the lead lap with six cars out of the race all for mechanical issues. So far there have been no caution flags other than to mark the end of the first two stages.

Daniel Suarez is reporting a vibration on his car for the second time.

Lap 140 Kyle Larson has a half second lead on Cole Custer.

Darrell Wallace Jr brings his car down pit road for a green flag pit stop.

Lap 143 drivers are beginning the cycle of green flag pit stops.

Brennan Poole was caught speeding on pit road both entering and exiting pit road.

After Kyle Larson and Cole Custer make their pit stops, Kyle Larson comes off pit road with a near two second lead on Custer.

Brandon Jones brings out the first on track caution flag of the race when his car got loose and spins out.

There are only 12 cars on the lead lap. Darrell Wallace Jr is the “lucky dog” making 13 cars on the lead lap.

Elliott Sadler is reporting a bad vibration.

Kyle Larson wins the race off of pit road.

Choosing the bottom lane, Kyle Larson brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 153 but it is Ryan Blaney who gets out in front for the lead of the race.

Lap 159 Ryan Blaney leads the race with a lead of a second on Erik Jones with Kyle Larson in third.

Lap 166 Ryan Blanes leads the race with Erik Jones in second.

Lap 170 Ryan Blaney has a second and a half lead on Erik Jones with 16 cars on the lead lap and 34 cars remaining on the track.

Twenty five laps remaining in the race and Ryan Blaney has a two second lead on Erik Jones. Kyle Larson is in third.

Daniel Suarez brings out the caution flag on lap 170 after spinning out near the entrance to pit road after spinning out with a lot of smoke trailing behind him.

Erik Jones wins the race off of pit road by half a car length.

Kyle Larson and Michael Annett were caught speeding on pit road.

Erik Jones brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 185 but it is Justin Allgaier from third place that runs on the apron to pass Jones and Ryan Blaney for the lead. Erik Jones and Ryan Blaney make contact and brush the wall but the track stays green. Cole Custer also got some damage to his car.

Lap 187 Justin Allgaier has a lead of a quarter second on team mate Elliott Sadler. Ryan Blaney is on pit road with damage to his car after brushing the wall.

Ryan Reed brings out the caution flag after spinning out on lap 188.

Choosing the inside lane, Justin Allagier brings the field down for the green flag restart with only seven laps remaining in the race. Justin Allgaier jumps out in front of the field and pulls away with Erik Jones hasing in second.

NASCAR is looking at a possible restart violation on Erik Jones – he changed lanes before the start finish line. Jones must serve a pass through penalty.

With just four laps remaining in the race Justin Allgaier has a lead of over a second and a half on Junior Motorsports team mate Ellliott Sadler.

With a lead of nearly two seconds, Justin Allgaier takes the white flag.

Justin Allgaier wins the race and becomes the first Xfinity Series driver to win on a mile and a half track. This is Allgaier’s fifth Xfinity Series win at a track that is considered his home track since he grew up in nearby Riverton.

Despite not winning a race all season, Elliott Sadler wins the the regular season to become the first Xfinity Series regular series champion.
