Kasey Kahne Gets a Ride

Another piece of the “Silly Season” puzzle has been put in place.

So far this season Matt Kenseth, Aric Almirola, Kasey Kahne, and Danica Patrick have all learned that they have or will be replaced when the 2018 NASCAR season begins.

The first of those drivers to learn that he has a ride for the 2018 racing season is Kasey Kahne.

For the past five years, Kasey Kahne has been a part of Hendrick Motorsports where he has won six races including earlier this year at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Kahne is one of the 16 drivers competing for the Monster Energy Cup Series Championship.

Kahne has signed on with Leavine Family Racing where he will drive the number 98 car currently being driven by Michael McDowell.

Speaking on his new ride, Kahne said, “the opportunity will be a challenge, but also a lot of fun. I enjoy a challenge and I enjoy working with people. The best part about it is us all being a team and trying to improve every single weekend and learning from what we do one week and improving the next. I think that’s something we’ll be able to do. And I’m really excited about it.”

Leavine Family Racing co-owner Bob Leavine spoke on Kahne saying, “after Indy I really saw his confidence level rise. That was great for him. I told him, ‘You are going to be the guy here, the star on our stage and you don’t share it with anyone.’ And the experience he brings will help our guys’ confidence.”

Leavine said that now that Kasey Kahne is a part of the team, they can begin building his care crew beginning with the right crew chief.
