Success and fame in the music business can be fleeting. Longevity is always a sought after commodity but often hard to find.
At 73 years of age, Patti LaBelle has been making music for 54 years and has entertained million of fans.
On October 20LaBelle brought her show to the Seneca Events Center in the Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino in Niagara Falls, New York. Playing before a packed house, she entertained the crowd for nearly two hours.
After opening the show with “New Attitude”, LaBelle showed why she has beaten the odds of success and achieved not only longevity, but iconic status.
Not only can LaBelle still hit the high notes with ease and clarity, she can still hold those notes for a good amount of time.
In between songs he frequently introduced and thanked her band members and backup singers. A few fans brought flowers and LaBelle talked with them and other fans who have seen her numerous times.
More than just a group of fans, the audience was well versed in her music and were ready and willing to sing along. Telling the fans, “thank you from the bottom of my heart, “ LaBelle noted that it was important that they had come to see her perform.
Along with “New Attitude”, LaBelle’s set list featured may songs about love including, “If You Asked Me Too”, “On My Own”, “Jazz in You”, saying that the world is a strange place today she sang “Two Steps Away”, “If You Don’t Know Me By Now”, “Lady Marmalade”, and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”.
One fan was so into the show that he was in the back of the Events Center putting on a show of his own.
After over 50 years of making music, Patti LaBelle has no need to put on a fashion show of costumes, she comes out on the stage and singer her heart out; leaving fans screaming for more. Her only costume change during the show was to kick off her heels and get comfortable walking around the stage.
