UPDATE: At least 5 dead, several others gravely injured in shooting at National Gazette Newspaper building in Annapolis, Maryland
June 28, 2018 At least four people were shot dead when a gunman opened fire inside a building that houses the Capital Gazette Newspaper in Annapolis, Maryland on Thursday. One suspect is in custody, and law enforcement officers continue to go floor to floor to ensure there are no additional shooters and the secure the building.
Anne Arundel County Police responded to an active shooter situation on Thursday afternoon at 888 Bestgate Road in Annapolis, where a local newspaper, the National Gazette in located. A law enforcement source told CNN the shooting took place in the newsroom.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Baltimore agents are on the scene of the shooting assisting state and local police in the investigation.
There is no word about a possible motive for Thursday’s shooting. Maryland officials say it is early in the investigation but they do not believe the shooting was an act of terrorism .
