Mountain biking can be a great cardio workout. The more intense the mountain biking, the harder one will have to work. Mountain bikers can also get a great upper-body workout by having to grip with their arms and use them to help propel themselves up hills or over tough terrain.

Mountain biking provides an opportunity for people of all abilities levels to participate in this activity that is good for health and wellness. For many individuals, mountain biking allows them a chance at outdoor adventure when they might not be able to do other types of physical activity due medical conditions such as joint pain from arthritis or high blood pressure medication being out of sync.

You don’t need any special equipment to start mountain biking, just a bike. That’s right; you can hop on an old department store bike or find a used bicycle from craigslist for less than $200 and be able to take off into the trails. With many sports requiring expensive equipment like courtside tickets, skates, hockey sticks etc., mountain biking is budget-friendly option that doesn’t force people who want to try it out with pricey investments upfront. And unlike other more strenuous forms of cycling such as road cycling which requires gear (special shoes), helmets etc., all you really need is balance to enjoy the mountains.

Mountain bikes can be purchased for less than $200, so anyone with the desire to get on a bike and ride will have no problem finding one that meets their needs. Trails are free to ride on and do not require any membership so mountain biking is one of the cheapest ways to get your exercise.

There are plenty of trails near your home that offer beginner-friendly routes 

Most likely there are ample trails to ride close to your home, meaning there will be no need to travel far for mountain biking. Parks, trails and foothills close by serve as a great place to ride. The availability of mountain bike trails near your home will help beginners feel more comfortable and confident so they can enjoy mountain biking.

Unlike other sports that require a rink, golf course or baseball diamond, mountain biking can be done just about anywhere. The versatility and availability of mountain biking trails makes it accessible to beginners and experienced mountain bikers alike.
