Apple makes fantastic products, and they keep getting better with every release. One could assume that you could do everything with an iPhone, as long as you have the right apps to use. Work, social life, daily life, fitness, or even food service—there’s not a lot you can’t do with an iPhone that’s connected to a solid, fast Internet service. They also make it easy for people who own their devices to have a protection plan, which they can buy along with the device. Most of the time, it worked well for phones with cracked screens and laptops with minor manufacturing defects.
But, like most companies during the lockdown, Apple is swamped. The handful of authorized Apple service centers have closed and are only slowly coming back. You can’t deny it, though, things won’t go back to normal until next year. These include Apple’s quality of service, but you can still watch out for their releases. Just know that whatever it is you own, whether it’s an old iPhone or one of the new iPad models, you have to take excellent care of it.
Apple Isn’t Unique, But That’s No Excuse
Apple is in no way the only one who’s struggling in meeting demands. Almost every company or service provider has been having a hard time keeping up the demands with their people locked out of their jobs for the time being. But what makes Apple unique, along with a handful of other companies, is how they structured their repair service. You’re locked out from accessing your AppleCare if you’ve had your device repaired by a third-party repairer. But, what if you have to choose between the official repair and an iPhone screen repair service in your area?
The short answer is that you’re better off going to a local third-party repairer for the rest of the year. Apple’s rules about service don’t make for a quick turnaround, and you may even have to mail your device in for repair. It’s out of the question for most people, as their Apple devices are just too precious (and expensive) to entrust to the local mailer to keep safe. This, along with many other reasons concerning convenience, is your best option right now. Other than that, how long can you go without your trusty phone? Because Apple will demand your time more than anything if you’re going with their service.
Doing Things on Your Own
The lockdown is the great equalizer of the time. Everyone, at some point and about a few things, will have done things by themselves. If you broke your phone or laptop, you might have to do with a substitute while you go look for your best repair option. Switching a few things around should help you cope with using a tablet or a desktop for a time, and you may even find a solution to a problem you’ve been dealing with at work or school.
If there’s something wrong with your Apple device, you have options. It may be best to have an Apple-certified service look after your device, but when something as big and disrupting as the coronavirus is in the way, maybe a third party can provide a solution you need at this time.
